Superintendent's Message Just Some Thoughts Mission
Opportunities
by Bruce Redmond, Church Planting Director Much is developing throughout our district with new churches. Church planting families are relocating and new lay groups considering becoming a new church are meeting. One new model that is developing in our district ministry is the potential of a house church network. Being networked for a house church enables them to share resources and build interdependency for a greater effectiveness with the gospel of Jesus in focus. Ancient Paths House Church Network: APHCN located in the 5 Points area of Denver and is making an intentional thrust in including the poor and marginalized. They exist to bring people to God; love God; love others and make disciples who intentionally reproduce. This Urban EFCA church team has set up the necessary structures to create a network of house churches and have time researching the potential already launching 7 groups in a short time. The teams members are led by Bruce Duell are Desi Starr and Carrie Schnur and their families. APHCH adopted the words of Neil Cole who has been spear heading a house church movement around the world for the last 10 years defining church this way; “the presence of Jesus among His people called out as a spiritual family to pursue His mission on earth.” The fact is not much is being done to bring Jesus to the poor and marginalized. Pastor George Johnson and his team are launching a new church for the African American population but Duell’s team believes this might be another potential answer to problems of beginning churches in urban areas. This coming fall, September 27th they will be conducting a House Church Network Seminar in Colorado Springs to recruit, inform and launch a new house church network as a part of APHCN. Then as God leads, six other communities throughout our district will be intentionally targeting offering training, assessment, coaching and the resources of the district team to equip these leaders. The plan will be to have these networks under the umbrella of APHCN. You can see why this urban team needs your prayer support right now. If you are interested in regional communities like Colorado Springs, Rapid City, Durango, Grand Junction, Pueblo and Fort Collins, let them know. God is at work using the giftedness, the creativity and the interdependent commitment of the churches in our district. Praise God for all of you participating for the sake of the gospel!
